Marietta Art Alive!
Marietta Art Alive, the arts-in-action team of Rivertownes PA USA, leverages the visual arts to increase tourism and strengthen economic development in our historic communities. The planning group works with local businesses and nonprofits to maximize any economical benefits and to increase participation by the local communities.
Some of their noteworthy annual art projects include:
River Towns Plein Air
Sixty plein air artists from surrounding states converge on the river towns to capture the beauty and history on both sides of the Susquehanna River. Plein air is french for painting in the open air (outdoors). The final art show and sale at the Marietta Community House is well attended, bringing over 500 visitors to the area. This event is scheduled for the spring to coincide with the cherry blossoms that bloom along Front Street in Marietta.
Juried Art Exhibits
The group also coordinates juried 2-D art exhibits. The theme of the shows are selected with great care in order to maximize the variety of styles, subjects, and media used.
They are designed to offer a public venue for regional artists and to increase awareness for working artists in our communities.
